The Story
This homeowner came to us wanting a full refresh of their master bathroom: new tile, a new shower, a new toilet, and a new vanity, with no fixed budget standing in the way of getting it right. What started as a plan to keep the existing tub evolved as the design took shape, and the finished bathroom ended up with a brand new freestanding soaking tub as its centerpiece instead.
Every surface in the room was reworked, from a dual vanity with its own linen tower to a fully retiled shower and floor, all tied together with matte black fixtures throughout. The finished project came in at $78,644.
The Transformation
- Vanity: A dual-sink vanity with a matching linen cabinet, finished in a gray-brown stain with matte black pulls, topped with a remnant quartz counter.
- Tub: A new freestanding acrylic soaking tub, positioned in front of the window, with a floor-mounted matte black tub filler and integrated hand shower.
- Shower: A fully retiled walk-in shower with a sliding glass door, a mosaic tile floor, and a multi-function shower system with a rain shower head and hand shower, all in matte black.
- Tile: Large-format marble-look porcelain tile runs across the main floor and shower walls, with a jewel-toned mosaic accent band behind the tub and in the shower niche.
- Toilet: A new compact elongated toilet, kept in its original location.
- Fixtures & Lighting: Matte black Delta faucets and shower fixtures throughout, paired with black-framed mirrors and matching vanity lighting over each sink.
- Ventilation: A new ceiling-mounted exhaust fan with motion and humidity sensing.

Design Decisions Explained
Why a new freestanding tub instead of keeping the original? As the design came together, a new freestanding soaking tub gave the room a real centerpiece, positioned in front of the window and backed by a custom accent tile band, something the original tub couldn’t offer.
Why large-format marble-look tile? Running the same tile across the floor and shower walls minimizes grout lines and creates a seamless, elevated look throughout the room.
Why add a jewel-toned mosaic accent band? The mosaic tile behind the tub and in the shower niche adds a warm, textured focal point against the cooler marble-look tile, giving the space a bit of personality without overwhelming the palette.
Why matte black fixtures throughout? Carrying the same matte black finish across the faucets, shower hardware, mirrors, and lighting ties the whole room together into one cohesive look.
